Earlier in 2020, I put forward a proposal for park amenity improvements at two parks in Ward 10 – one in Lisgar and one in Churchill Meadows. This spring, the City will be constructing new spray pads at Lisgar Green and Mississauga-Meadowvale Rotary Park. These new amenities will provide water play opportunities and enhance visitors’ experiences in these parks, as well as provide relief in the summer from extreme heat events.
The spray pads will include the following features:
- Accessible-for-all spray pad with ground level and vertical spray features
- Umbrella tables
The spray pads will be designed to meet accessibility standards, making them safe and inclusive for all. Works are tentatively scheduled to be completed this summer. The development of the Lisgar Green and Mississauga-Meadowvale Rotary Park spray pads are made possible by the Federal Gas Tax Fund. Spray pads are a supported use within the City’s Parks and Forestry Future Directions Master Plan (2019).
