Peel Regional Police, together with Mississauga bylaw officers, parking officers, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services, and other partners, continue to enforce existing laws and regulations with zero tolerance at the Erin Mills Centre (commonly referred to as Ridgeway Plaza) at the south east corner of Ridgeway Drive and Eglinton Avenue in Ward 8. The enforcement blitzes are in response to ongoing large-scale gatherings that create a public nuisance and safety concerns for patrons of the plaza as well as the surrounding neighbourhoods, including homes adjacent to the plaza in Ward 10.

This week, I seconded Ward 8 Councillor Matt Mahoney’s motion to enact an interim control bylaw for one-year to allow for a land use study of the properties that make up the plaza. The bylaw will prevent new businesses—including any new restaurants—from opening that may exacerbate the current problems there.
