Peel Region is working in your neighbourhood to rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer system and maintenance holes (commonly called manholes). Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water is flushed down the toilet, or goes down the drain in your sink, tub, or shower.

To extend the service life of the sewer under these streets, Peel Region’s contractors will clean the existing sewer pipe and place a new resin (plastic) lining within it. This work will be completed underground with specialized equipment and will not require digging trenches in your neighbourhood. As part of this project, we will also repair some sections of the sanitary sewer and repair or replace aging maintenance holes. This work will ensure the sanitary sewer system can continue to be accessed and maintained
from the maintenance holes. Most of our work will involve repairing maintenance holes. When we need to partially replace the maintenance hole, we will share additional information with affected residents and businesses before the work begins.

Construction schedule
Construction on Erin Centre Boulevard is planned to begin in April 2025 and will be completed by the end of summer 2025. During this time, our crew may be working near your home or business for a few weeks:
• We will rehabilitate the sanitary sewer in sections and may spend approximately two to three days in each location to complete rehabilitation work.
• It typically takes a few hours to three days to repair a single maintenance hole, depending on the work required. When the maintenance hole needs to be completely replaced, this work may take three to five days.

Traffic impacts
Temporary lane reductions will be required to complete this work. The following is the list of expected traffic impacts.
April 28 to May 12, 2025
• Crews will be working in the intersection of Ninth Line and Erin Centre Boulevard. Traffic travelling southbound on Ninth Line will not be able to turn left onto Erin Centre Boulevard. Travel in all other directions will be maintained.
Partial lane reductions will be occurring throughout April and May 2025
• Erin Centre Boulevard will be reduced to a single shared lane between Roadside Way and Longford Drive.
• The westbound right-turning lane on Erin Centre Boulevard between Dubonet Drive and Tenth Line West will be reduced. Turning right from Erin Centre Boulevard onto Tenth Line West will still be possible.
• The westbound lane on Erin Centre Boulevard between Oscar Peterson Boulevard and Dubonet Drive will be reduced. Traffic will still be able to continue west.
• Erin Centre Boulevard will be reduced to a single westbound lane between Destination Drive and Palmetto Place.
Where a single lane is shared with oncoming traffic, please be sure to yield to oncoming traffic as stated by the road signs.

During this time, traffic will be directed by police officers or flag persons. Emergency service vehicles and school buses will be permitted to cross through the closure with guidance from the onsite contractor. We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.
