The Infrastructure planning division of the City’s Transportation and Works department released its annual capital works program related to roads and stormwater projects for 2025. There are several key projects funded for construction this year.  Highlights are outlined below; the full briefing note is posted here.

Roads

Construction is expected to begin this summer on the widening of Ninth Line, beginning in the southerly section near Eglinton Ave and moving north.

Several Trelawny Circle cul de sacs as well as full roads in Lisgar just east of Tenth Line are due for curb replacement and road rehabilitation, including Snowflake, Longspur, Warbler, Fanleaf, Round Leaf, Roundwood, Coralbean and Bloomfield.  This work typically occurs late summer and well into fall in queue with other similar works across the city. Because no schools are affected, it will likely occur in the fall but a full schedule has not been established.

Structure investigation and surveys for two existing bridges in Lisgar – at Doug Leavens Blvd (over Sixteen Mile Creek) and Ninth Line (over Sixteen Mile Creek).

New sidewalks to provide better access to Britannia Road – at Snowy Owl Crescent and Clover Ridge Crescent.

A noise wall upgrade project is in the design phase for sections of Ninth Line between Eglinton Avenue and Derry Road.

A new traffic signal is planned for the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and Intrepid Drive/plaza entrance.  Further, a new traffic signal installation approved for 2024 and carried over to this year is now under construction at Ninth Line and Terragar Boulevard.

The need for a pedestrian cross over has been identified along Churchill Meadows Blvd at the trail crossing just north of Erin Centre Blvd. Public engagements sessions will be scheduled at a future time prior to installation of this road safety measure.

Stormwater

The Osprey Marsh is scheduled for dredging in late 2025.

Three automated pumping station projects are taking place in 2025 – the station at Smoke Tree Road is expected to be operational by month’s end; the station at Doug Leavens Blvd has gone to tender and construction is expected to begin this summer; the station at Osprey Marsh is in the design phase.
