The City of Mississauga is considering the implementation of Neighbourhood Area Speed Limits which will prescribe a maximum rate of speed for neighbourhood areas delineated by geographical boundaries. Arterial roads such as Britannia Road, Derry Road and Eglinton Avenue, as well as collector roads such as Tenth Line, Thomas Street and Erin Centre Boulevard, would serve as boundary roads for the neighbourhood areas and those speed limits would remain unchanged. Within those boundaries, however, an Area Speed Limit could be established on single lane local and minor roadways, effectively lowering speeds on these less busy streets.
