I sent the following e-mail on behalf of City of Mississauga staff on Friday afternoon, related to the flooding experienced in the Black Walnut area from the night before. There were two homes in Ward 9 that reported flooding, in addition to the 14 on Black Walnut Trail.

Dear Residents,

I am writing to you again today with the following notification related to the basement flooding experienced overnight in the northwest part of the city.

Staff from the City of Mississauga are aware that some residents of Wards 9 and 10 are experiencing water infiltration into their basements following last evening’s rain fall.  The City has high level water protocols and they were followed.  The City is investigating the cause of this incident with the Region of Peel.  This investigation is a priority.

See the following links, which provide tips for staying safe related to water infiltration:

A Residential Guide to Flood Prevention and Recovery

If you are experiencing water infiltration issues, please report them to the Citizen Contact Centre by dialing 3-1-1 or 905-615-4311 outside city limits.  My office will continue to share details of the investigation with you as they become available.

Kindest regards
Sue McFadden
Councillor
